August
This is a strong Royal Oaks membership league play month with all three leagues having 13 out of 25 days on the books. WOW!!
Is that the 'gator chomp' I hear? The gator senior travel group has chosen Royal Oaks Golf Club to host their final summer series. ROGC has now hosted 4 out of the last 5 finals for the travel boys and we are looking forward to the men in orange and blue.
The GCSAA has selected ROGC for their August general meeting and golf outing. Every month the GCSAA travels to area courses in the region and Royal Oaks is proud to host in August. Our Superintendent, Frank can't wait to show off the course to his peers!
Finally, August comes to a close with our 2nd Annual Scramble "Skins" game on the third Friday of the month. As this event was such a huge success last year, we are pleased to out-do ourselves once again. With great skins, free beer and tons of fun - everyone wins!
September
With our final aerification of the year on the 7th, play will be light while the greens have time to heal as we here at ROGC always like to keep our golfer’s best interests in mind by keeping them up-to-date with our course conditions.
The ROGC membership is bringing their summer league play to a close for the year, with only 14 events remaining on the summer schedule. And with the remainder of the membership making its way back soon, the full-timers are taking advantage of the summer series of events.
Finally, after taking a month off, the SW 200 group will make their 7th visit of the year to Royal Oaks on the third Thursday of the month. This is the groups’ 2nd year here and we seem to be the majority favorite on the 2010 calendar. We always enjoy the 200's and look forward to them each month!
And with September coming to a close, the membership is preparing for a heavy schedule of activities in the Fall. The last few weeks in September invites all golfers in the county to come out and enjoy our wonderful facility. With tree lined fairways and fantastic greens we invite/challenge you to take a few hours out of your day and spend some relaxing golf with us at Royal Oaks Golf Club. So, come see for yourself, while we’re continuously lauded for being the “most pleasurable course to play” and having “ the best greens in Marion County.”
October
The Royal Oaks Men's Golf Association (Romga) kicks off October with their 12th annual "Octoberfest" on the 1st of the month. This event is a staple on the men's calendar and it promises to have plenty of German "delicacies" on tap.
Over-Seed -- Over-Seed On the 18th of the month we are planning our annual over-seed of the fairways, tees, and greens. O-BOY!! That time of year is just around the corner when your golfing juices start to flow
with cooler weather and plush surroundings.
Looks like the S.W. 200 group is once again making their way back to Royal Oaks on the 21st of the month. This is the 8th visit of the year and the 200 group is excited; they are going to be the first group to play the over-seeded course of the season.
The Upper-Mid Club of Oak Run has decided to join us for their annual golf and dinner "get-together" on the 21st. This is our inaugural event with the Upper-Midwest group here at Royal Oaks and we're looking forward
to many more in the years to come!
Looks like October is coming to a strong close with our 12th annual "Toys For Tots" fundraiser. This is Royal Oaks most endearing fundraiser of the year with proceeds going to the local families in need for
Christmas Season. Many Thanks to the local Marine Corp League for choosing us every year to host this
fantastic event and making us proud to serve and give.
